Social Responsibility Week’s Celebration at Kristu Jayanti College

Social responsibility is an ethical framework and suggests that an entity, be it an organization or individual, has an obligation to act for the benefit of society at large. Social responsibility is a duty every individual has to perform so as to maintain a balance between the economy and the ecosystems. A tradeoff may exist between economic development, in the material sense, and the welfare of the society and environment.

Kristu Jayanti College truly believes in the concept of the overall development of students. It doesn’t only focus on the academics but also instills a sense of social responsibility. The department of Management (BBA) organized the Social responsibility week from 6 to 10 January 2020, with the theme of ‘Sustainable Development Goals’. The primary motive was to sensitize the students on the various societal issues and also to provide a platform to identify and develop solutions for various societal concerns.

What does it mean to be Socially Responsible and Ethical?

The theory of social responsibility is built on a system of ethics, in which decisions and actions must be ethically validated before proceeding. If the action or decision causes harm to society or the environment then it would be considered to be socially irresponsible.

Moral values that are inherent in society create a distinction between right and wrong. Every individual has a responsibility to act in manner that is beneficial to society and not solely to the individual.

At Kristu Jayanti, along with the quality education, one also gets to learn the values. As this institution believes that along with quality education, a student must learn the moral values, discipline in order to be a human being which the society needs.  The department of Management’s initiative really has made a big difference in the minds of students. The Social Responsibility Week had several competitions such as

* Mime
* Social Entrepreneur
* Short film screening
* Poster making contest
* Social Revolution.

As the saying goes ‘Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today’ and Kristu Jayanti prepares its students not just for today but for a better tomorrow!
